SD531394 Look what I made yesterday!!!!  Isn’t it the cutest thing you ever did see?  I’m adding it to the birthday package for my sister and niece and I almost don’t want to part with it.  I love the new Chloe’s Closet papers.  So springy and easy to match with other things.SD531395  I used my Martha Stewart border punch to make the roof shingles and then inked them a bit so they would stand out.  I have a couple more of these cutie patootie bird houses to decorate.  Thanks to Michael’s dollar bins!

Have a great day!!!

HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY, HANNAH!!!

Ah, to be a “tweener”.  It’s been a very long time since I was there but I do remember my mother telling me…"there are 2 ages where you don’t fit, 12 since you aren’t little but you aren’t a teen and 20, you aren’t a teenager anymore but you aren’t legal.”  My question is: If you are considered a “tweener” at 12, what are you at 20?  Hum.  Interesting.

Here is Hannah with her mom (my sister) Janet.  How cool that they have birthdays one after another?!?!

Oh and that’s Grandpa!  Isn’t he cute with his favorite Sonic senior drink?!?!  I miss them all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANET!!!

Seems as if I’m not the only one that thinks my sister is 50 this year!  I wish we lived closer so we could celebrate our birthdays together. I hope it’s a super day for you, Jan.  Miss ya!

Had to take Sarah for her 4 year check up today.  She asked me, while we were getting into the truck, “do I have to get shots?”.  I told her I didn’t know.  She was ok with that answer and we happily went on.  Well, she’s 41" and 37 lbs., her vision and hearing seem to be fine, her motor skills are at the proper level.  Seems as if she has allergies.  Is that the favorite word for doctors?  Anyway, 4 shots.  It broke my heart.  She doesn’t like to be comforted when she’s in pain so it was heartbreaking to have her screaming and pushing away.  The tragic part of it all was they didn’t have any good stickers when we were leaving.  RUDE!  So, we headed over to Michael’s to get something to paint instead.  Of course, she couldn’t walk!  Good thing I had a lollypop in the truck from the bank.

At Nathan’s school, they do a fund raiser each year to help pay for the field day shirts.  The art teacher has all the 1st thru 5th graders make a picture and it’s turned into a graphics company where you can purchase your child’s drawing/painting on different items.  Last year, I bought a key chain and 4x6 magnets for all the grand parents.

I asked Nathan what his picture was this year and here is his story…. My teacher told us to draw a castle.  I put blue in front of it. (I helped him with the word..) The blue is for the mote.  Then she said to draw what was happening at our castle.  *he began to chuckle*  So I drew them falling into the mote and getting eaten by the alligator!  *full belly laugh now*  All the people were falling all over the place.  It’s cool.  I can’t wait for you to see it.

If you follow the arrows, you can see what happens to each of his stick people.  I just about fell on the floor laughing at this.  He’s so proud! LOL

February 21, 2009

Ah, the weekend.  One of the children’s favorite things on the weekend is Daddy’s pancakes.  I don’t make them.  Don’t even ask me to.  Can you see the pure bliss in their faces when they say “pancakes” instead of cheese?!?!?!

Oh yeah, Nathan got his hair BUZZ cut on Friday.  Looks good, huh?!

February 20, 2009

We have 2 cats.  They were rescued as kittens (along with their brother) and we had to keep the sisters together.  “The girls” are as different as night and day.  Patches is very typical…comes around when SHE wants attention, gotten fat since being fixed, and is the first to hide.  Eevee on the other hand is our “feel good” kitty.  She loves to lay on your lap, “talks” all the time, easy to find and will lay with you if you are sick until you are better.  Here she is, in my arms, in her relax mode…..

SD531375

Here is my “cruise” layout for this week.  We had to do a layout on our favorite movie, any way we wanted.  I was going to do “It’s a Wonderful Life” but last night Steve said “Oh sure, the king and I”.

Ok, I have 2 favorites. :-)

More wintery weather here in the Piedmont.   Geesh, I’m not sure what we will do with ALL this snow.  Oh wait, it was gone by noon.  Nice, huh?!?!

February 17, 2009

SD531352  Today is Nathan’s appointment at the Allergist.  We had no idea what to expect.  After the Dr. examined him and asked 1,000 questions, we were brought into another room.  First are the scratch tests on his back.  If I counted right, there were 40 and she was done in about 1 minute.  He laughed thru the whole thing until they started to itch.  The one on his left shoulder started itching right away so I took this so he could see.  Some of them were red but that top left one was huge after 15 minutes. SD531356 Next were the prick tests.  All the ones that weren’t positive on the scratch tests had to be done on his arm again.  This first picture is  before the pricks and he was feeling pretty good.  There are 37 lines there.  He had to sit on my lap, facing me, while 2 other nurses held on to him.  He watched each and every needle go into his arm.  He did tell the nurses that they were hurting him several times but never once looked away or cried.  When they left, he looked at me so sad and said “that really hurt, mama”.  I told him he could cry since they left the room and he said no. I asked him if I could cry and he said NO!  Look at how many of SD531360 them got big.  The list of things that he’s allergic to is pretty long but the degree he’s allergic is very small.  His biggest trouble right now is Dust and dust mites.  We have to encase his pillows, mattress and box spring.  Also, try to keep the cats off his bed.. yeah right.  The Dr. even said good luck with that.  I’m very proud of Nathan today.  That was a lot for a 7 year old to go thru and he did spectacular.

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY, SARAH!!!

Wow, has time flown by, 4 years old already.  She requested we go to the zoo today.  It’s 47 degrees and she’s not changing her mind.  First we have to make and decorate her cake……SD531258 SD531265

Ok, now we can go to the zoo.  It’s $30 for the 3 of us.  WHAT?!?!?!  And the giraffe’s aren’t out ‘cuz it’s too cold for them.  She still isn’t changing her mind.  We saw all the animals that would come out and visit.  About 1/2 way, she hurt her leg somehow and had to be carried off and on. Geesh, she’s heavy!  Finally she said “My leg hurts and I’M FREEZING, I want to go home!!!”

SD531330

I think next year we will try the circus!!!

February 15, 2009

Another busy day.  Got food shopping done.  Put all the food away.  Made lunch for everyone.  Laundry.  Worried about Sarah’s horrible cough.  Got to visit with my friend, Tracie and her son Dawson!

SD531254

She’s not used to the Sarah paparazzi!  LOL  Whew! Thank goodness this weekend is over with.

February 14, 2009

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Very full day for us.  First, Steve and I opened a new account at the bank so we can start saving for our future.  I feel like a grown up now! :-)  Then we all got in the truck to go spend some gift cards.  Lowe’s was 1st on the list, he got a deep socket set and some twirly thing to go with it.  Bass Pro Shop was next.  That store is so HUGE and fun to look around.  He got a new reel, some line and a book on tying knots.  The kids and I had fun….

Took some shots of Steve (and his long winded self) talking to the sales man about reels…….

SD531202 SD531203

We headed to Home Depot next where he bought himself a new tool box and a tool to help with Nathan’s pinewood derby car.  Finally to Appleby’s for a nice dinner.  We sure were “feeling good in the neighborhood” after that full day!

February 13, 2009

On Wednesday, we dropped off the dogs and headed down to Tina’s house.  We had to make a detour at the “mall” because my cell phone wasn’t working.  Well, Verizon got it all taken care of but before we could get back on the highway, Sarah insisted on this……

SD531196 SD531197

Isn’t she cute hugging Jerry?!?!  She was so excited to see them.  I mean really, how many times do you get to see celebrities in person?  She watches them everyday on TV!  It was like a dream come true!  I believe her life has changed, for the better.  She looks up to Jerry and being so close to him… just once.. wow. :-)

February 12, 2009

Do you see this???

SD531198

It is February!  These poor flowers will be frozen in the next week when the temperature goes back down.  How sad.  What a tease.  They are pretty, though, aren’t they?!?  I think Phil didn’t see his shadow, it’s all just a cover up! LOL

SD531195

Here is my dream home.  I almost get light headed when I pass it.  The kids know to wave hello and goodbye while saying “(hello)…. dream house.”  It’s located right before I turn onto Kian’s street.  Of course, Kian says it’s HER dream house too.  I’ve thought about it, I do believe I’d fight her for it… and win! :-)

SD531186

Here is my latest layout for the “cruise” contest I’m in.  The colors I had to use (green, blue, red, teal, cream) really don’t photograph well. I tried, really I did.  These are my fav pics of Sarah from last year.  Having them in sepia really softens them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RONNY!! (he’s my brother in law!)

Sarah and I went to Michael’s to get her some things to paint.  They had these super cute little wooden bird houses in the dollar bins so we picked up 4.  Two for her and two for me.  The plan is the paint one each and scrap one each.  She decided to paint both of hers.

February 8, 2009

SD531171We are watching Kian’s little dogs for her while she goes out of town.  I tried to get Nathan to take a picture of all 3 of them but it’s not possible!  Here is Romeo and while you think it’s just a normal picture, it’s not.  In the almost 3 years that I’ve known Romeo, this is the first time he’s let me touch him!!!  He’s really a very sweet boy if he could just keep his peeing limited to the outside he’d be even better!!  We’ve nicknamed him “Sir Pees A lot”.  He looks like a surfer with his black body coat and white hairs on top.  Very cute, huh?!?!

February 7, 2009

Today was the Blue and Gold banquet for scouts.  Dinner began at 6pm and everyone was excited.  Steve didn’t go because he still isn’t feeling well.  There were plenty of awards given out.  The most exciting part was finally getting the popcorn sales awards (back in Oct!).  Nathan got this…..

SD531173

… for just being one of the popcorn salesman!  He also got a water gun as a prize for the amount he sold!  EVERYONE was jealous of his prize!!!  Good thing it’s been warm outside so he could use it at least once.  Next month is the pinewood derby race.

February 6, 2009

Today I made a layout! OMG!  I haven’t done one of those in a very long time.

SD531168

I’ve joined up with the girls over at Life Preservers Club doing a “Cruise around the World in 8 layouts”.  Fun, huh?!  This is the first week’s challenge.  Sunday we’ll get the second week’s and I can’t wait.  Now that I did one page, I have the scrapping bug and need MORE!!!

February 5, 2009

Thomas.  Nathan has been addicted to Thomas since before he could speak!  He knows every single engine’s name. He’s seen all the movies, owns the books.  He has metal trains, wood trains, all the tracks to go with them.  He even has a huge Thomas poster that Steve got him from one of his pick ups.  Sadly, in the past year, Thomas has been non existent.  Video games have consumed Nathan and we’ve been talking about boxing up all of the Thomas things to put away in the attic.  Until all of a sudden….. SD531164

Nathan was caught playing with his trains!!!  *Gasp*  Not only was he playing with his trains but he was playing with his sister as well! *Gasp, Gasp*  When will this crazy madness end?!?!?

I hope never.  Welcome back, Thomas!

February 4, 2009

Every year Steve gets sick at least once.  It always starts off as a simple little cold and then “BAM” pneumonia or bronchitis.  When he said that he wasn’t feeling too good on Sat., I was quick to talk about him going to the Dr. soon.  Sunday he woke up and said “I’m gonna go to the Dr.” and he has an upper repertory infection.  See, BAM, overnight.  He stayed home to make sure it didn’t get worse until today (Wed.).  I sure hope it doesn’t!

Blog Candy

Check out this amazing blog candy and post for a chance to win it!  Oh man, you gotta love the internet today! :-)

February 3, 2009

I get up today to this……

SD531162

Here is the south’s version of a “snow storm”.  It snowed over night and stopped before the sun came up.  It was 60 degrees here yesterday so none of the snow can stick to the roads.  I’ll bet by noon it will all be gone.  Are you Northerns reading this on the floor laughing?!?!?! Pitiful.

February 2, 2009

Happy Ground Hog’s Day and sorry Phil saw his shadow.  I find it funny that living in the south, no one really either knows about Phil or cares.

SD531163Today I was noticing things around the house.  How organized looking is your fridge?  Mine is a mess…. on the outside. :-)  When the kids were babies (and toddlers) they were my shadow.  What better way to keep them occupied while I was at the hot stove than to have fun fridge magnets?!?!?  They don’t play with them much anymore unless I organize them!  Mostly the kids that visit us like to play with the magnets.   Either way, I can’t imagine my fridge without them.

Saturday is no different than any other day of resting.  If Mommy is sitting down, EVERYONE (the cat is no exception) wants to be on her lap!  Here is how we compromise……..
